Missions Letter

My name is Jacob Burkholder. Thank you for supporting me as I have grown in my walk with Christ. As I am about to graduate high school, I have enjoyed many activities such as Football and Baseball. With my high school career-ending, the next chapter of my life will begin shortly after graduation. Because of past mission trips, I feel called to take a gap year and serve in Mexico for a year to do missionary work. 


For the first six months, I will be partnering with Israel and Sandra Chavez who are full-time missionaries with Multiply in Guadalajara, Mexico. I plan to be with them from July to December 2025. I will start my time in Guadalajara, living with the Chavez’s where I will have intense language studies in Spanish for the first few weeks. Furthermore, I desire to learn Spanish so that I can communicate with people and share my testimony. I will be helping and leading worship at Pinar MB Church on Sundays along with doing outreach for the church. During the week I will be helping out at Matthew Training Center where I will serve with the Hadime más mission team. During my time in Guadalajara, I hope to be able to serve others for Jesus every day and learn more about the Lord's plan for me. 


After the New Year, I will head to Mazatlán, Mexico to join YWAM (Youth With A Mission) until the end of May. This will be a different experience because I will be in discipleship training during the day and missions in the evening for the first 3 months. I plan to reflect on my relationship with God and will be given more opportunities to serve through this organization. The last 2 months, I will go to the mission field in Mazatlán or beyond to spread God’s love and preach the Gospel. I want to be pushed out of my comfort zone to hear and obey God’s voice. 


During these opportunities, I hope to reflect on the Lord's plan for me, become closer to Him, and make heaven crowded. To fulfill my opportunity to go and serve, I need to raise $15,000 by July 2025. I would love to invite you to consider partnering with me through prayer and/or finances. I understand not everyone is called to help with every mission. I trust you will ask the Lord and hear from Him if this is a place in which you can minister financially.  If you choose to give, please make sure that all donations are written to Hesston MB Church. Another way you can support me is to pray for safety and a change in the lives of the people of Mexico to grow closer to the Lord.

     Hey everyone! I've officially been in Mexico for about two weeks now. Before I jump into updates, I just want to thank you all for your incredible support and prayers. Exceeding my financial goal was a huge blessing—God is so good! Your prayers for this journey have also meant so much to me! I left for Guadalajara on the 15th and arrived that evening. To my surprise, customs and immigration were quick and easy. After that, the Chavez family greeted me at the airport. They've been incredibly kind and have truly made me feel at home here in Guadalajara.       My first few days were spent preparing for the VBS Kids Camp at their church. Mexico 2025 -- July 29-August 18

Hello, everyone! I hope all is well! Thank you all for your prayers on this journey. I’ve seen them answered every day. In my last post, I mentioned I’d be heading to Hadime Mas, and now I can tell you all about it. Before I get into the details, you might be wondering, "What is Hadime Mas?" Hadime Mas is a three-week program designed to strengthen one's faith and connection with God through teachings and community. It's for anyone who wants to revive their faith and reconnect with God through transformative teachings, inner healing, service, and evangelism. This was a wonderful opportunity for me to learn more about God and my discipleship walk with Him. We began the program with a survival camp in the woods. During this camp, I learned a lot about teamwork and my relationship with God. To start, we had to build our own shelter using just a few tools, some rope, and a tarp.
